Getting the hang of this crawling stuff

Here's another video of the little guy crawling. It won't be long before he's zipping all over the house.

Crawling Update

Huxley's been acting like he's going to crawl for about a month now, but hasn't quite made it there. He gets up on his knees and rocks, maybe takes a step or two, and then sits up. Or, he gets distracted with something else and forgets about crawling all together.

This week he seems to have made a breakthrough. I sat him down in his room, and he crawled clear to the other side of his room attempting to get his fan. (We keep a fan in his room for white noise when he sleeps. I did stop him before he got to the fan.) See, he's only motivated by dangerous objects. I bet if I waved around electrical cords he come running.

I've been trying to get him to crawl to things that are less dangerous, like his toys. He's been giving it a half-hearted attempt. He's not going after them like he went after the fan though.

Here's a video of the little guy crawling...

Later, he made his way over to the stuffed dog.

After his triumph of getting the stuffed dog, he was quite tired.

Hooray for Huxley

Huxley started clapping today. I think at first he thought he had a toy and each hand and was banging them together. Then he realized, hey my hands can make noise too. Cool!

6 toofers, oh my!

The grand total is now six. He got four upper teeth one right after another. We've had three weeks of fussiness, slobber, and sleepless nights. One night he woke up nearly every 30 minutes, and I'd rock him back to sleep. He'd cuddle up on my shoulder and then he'd toss and turn all over the place. He'd even place his head on top of my shoulder and grind his teeth. Eventually he'd settle down and fall asleep only to wake back up in 30 minutes.

He wasn't much better during the day. He didn't nap well and was quite fussy. I'd resort to letting him watch his DVD to have 30 minutes of no fussiness. The DVD is called Magiq and it really does wonders for Huxley when he's teething.

I think this teething spell is over. Hopefully the next one won't be nearly so painful.

Baby Insomnia

Since Huxley's learned several new tricks, he's been practicing them all in his crib making nap time lots of fun.  I vacuum the upstairs every day attempting to lull him to sleep.  It used to work.

Here's Huxley demonstrating his talents.  He's learned to sit up from a lying down position.  It's difficult to sleep when you are sitting up.
