Happy 3 Month B-Day Huxley

Huxley had his three month birthday over the weekend, while dad had his big 3-0 birthday.  They both turned three months and 30 on March 29.

Huxley had many accomplishments over the past month.  We moved him to his big boy crib, and he started sleeping through the night.  He's been sleeping eight or nine hours each night and giving momma some much needed sleep.  This happened literally over-night.  One night he snoozed for a five hour stretch and the next he slept for nine hours.  I called the doctor the next day thinking something was wrong with him.

Another accomplishment from month three is squealing.  He's all giggles and smiles at 4 am.   He's happiest when he's woken me up.  After he's done squealing, he babbles on and on telling me about all the dreams he had in the past 8 hours.  Today, he even had a conversation with one of his stuffed animals (see video below), and yesterday, he nearly yelled at dad for not promptly greeting him when he arrived home from work.

He's closer to being able to keep his head up all on his own.  By the end of this month he should have good control over his head.   Since he's such a big boy keeping his head up will take him a little more time than other babies.   He really likes the control he has now and whips his head back and forth when I am holding him.  There's so much more to see from my viewpoint than from the floor.

The old tricks are still around.  He is smiling more each day and still becomes a water fountain without notice.  Half the time I duck out of the way in the nick of time, and the rest of the time both of us change clothes.  It's fun.

So what is there to look forward to in month four??  Gaining control over his head and neck, more babbling, and maybe even sitting up and rolling over with some help from mom and dad.

Big Move

We finally made the move.  We moved Huxley from his bassinet that's been sitting beside our bed for the past two and half months and moved him to his crib in his own room.  It was difficult moving him away from our bedside, but Huxley had grown too big for the bassinet. We even contemplated moving the crib into our room.

Moving him ended up being the right move for all three of us.  After moving him to his crib, he immediately started sleeping longer stretches at night - 8 hours!!

We have a really great monitor that ensures us he's still breathing.  If it doesn't detect movement for 10 seconds, it sets off an alarm.  That's a great comfort to us.  The sound comes through so clearly that we can even hear him breathing and cooing which is a very soothing sound to us.

The first few nights without him next to us were hard, but getting an eight hour stretch of sleep is great.
